Cardinal Avery Dulles, noted theologian and author of the groundbreaking Models of the Church, died Dec. 12. The 90-year-old, who had been the oldest living U.S. cardinal, was made a cardinal by Pope John Paul II in 2001. He was the son of former Secretary of State John Foster Dulles and nephew of onetime CIA director Allen Walsh Dulles. He also was an author for St. Anthony Messenger Press.
