In what ways does your family observe the Sabbath?

Subject: I observed Fridays as my day of rest

For many years I was in the hospitality industry and worked on Saturday evenings and Sundays. I would attend early morning mass on Sunday, but struggled with not observing the "sabbath." My spiritual director encouraged me to celebrate the "sabbath" on my regular day off. On Mondays or Fridays I would sleep-in. If it was Monday, I would have a leisure brunch and read the "Sunday" newspaper. If it was Friday, I would usually engage in some sort of sightseeing, cultural or sport activity. My spiritual director opened up great opportunities to celebrate God’s goodness in rest and recreation.
