I am thinking you may have misunderstood this question. I may be wrong but we ask for blessings on our children from Our Good Lord, Blessed Mother, The Guardian Angels God gave to all of us. We ask the Saints to pray for blessings for our family.
Our children (young or older) need blessings especially in this society of ours that is quickly loosing moral fiber in all aspects.
You are so right in consecrating ourselves and family to Mary and the Trinity.
