heh heh, sorry for causing you exasperation

Going back to the topic ... "Love is a decision, not just a feeling" ... I think you and I agree that we can’t choose our feelings but we can choose to BE loving.

Perhaps that IS the point that the editors are trying to make -- that we DO have control over whether or not we are loving. To just throw up our hands and say, "I have no control over that. It’s not my choice, I simply hate you because of what you’ve done." is to deny the responsibility to BE loving. So I think the point is that whether we feel like it or not, we have the choice to perform the spiritual and corporal acts of mercy and thereby "love". We don’t wait for good vibes before we will ourselves to do good deeds.
