My father had great devotion to St. Anthony and I remember the statues with him holding the Baby Jesus. I suffered for a number of years with doubts and depression re. my religion but I kept right on doing what is expected of a Catholic and the dark veil slowly lifted. While inside I was despairing my body still did what I know Catholics should do. I prayed and it seemed I was praying to a nothingness. The devil many times does this to us to capture our souls but these are the times we must fight even if the battle is in total darkness. When I feel attacked by the devil I pray harder and sprinkle holy water through my house. This really works for me. Fighting the demons is a battle as long as we are on this earth.
