Subject: Abraham

When I think of fear, I think of Father Abraham. What must he have thought when God told him to sacrifice his own son in order to prove his loyalty and to settle the covenant? He must have been terrified and worried and doubtful... But he carried out God’s plan right up until the last moment, and God rewarded him. Jesus was a descendant of Abraham, so it’s fitting he ensured that his family line would be continued.

Abraham was also one who put God to the test, asking Him if He would still destroy Sodom and Gomorrah if He found 10 just people in the cities.

I think the message is that we SHOULD question our faith: in prayer, in contemplation, in discussion, et al. But when the questioning leads to a dead end, we should be faithful, not fearful.
