I have been pondering the question and my answer depends on what the event represents. If it represents being in the Roman Catholic Church then I would be most uncomfortable in the place of honour. I would be most comfortable near the door. I am a marginal Catholic, I hover on the margin of the Church, half in and half out. The margin is where I feel most at home in the Church. I like the company I find there.

On the other hand if the event represents being in the Kingdom of Heaven, then I think I would be equally comfortable anywhere. Jesus seems to say that in the Kingdom no one cares about the seating plan, all places are equally desirable, all people are equally good companions. I imagine that I might find myself sitting between a Muslim and a Hindu, that would provide interesting converstation.
