Those who voluntarily choose poverty usually still enjoy the basic comforts of life, food, a place to live, some entertainment. The true poverty stricken generally do not choose their way of life but it is enforced on them due to unemployment, lost benefits, mental illness, etc. St. Francis truly chose poverty and lived as such, St. John the Baptist also chose poverty but personally I think John the Baptist was a little touched in the head. Locusts and honey do not sound appetizing but I guess you get your protein from locusts and energy from honey? Even though you enjoy the warm house and good food as I also do, it is what is in our hearts and spirit. Thanking God for what we have and realizing that the "Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away, blessed be the Name of the Lord."
