To be rich in material things including money shows a person dedicated themselves to a task and/or had unique ideas to invent a needed object and sacrificed themselves and their time to reach their goals. These qualities are admirable and they deserve the rewards of riches. The sin is not being rich but of inordinate attachment to the things around us. Without God’s graces we could have no possessions or the talent to obtain them and to forget God as our sole provider. When we forget our position in the universe then riches can make us evil. To give to others according to our means is what God expects from us. "To whom much is given much will be expected."
In the end we are all rich even those classified as "the poor" when we give of ourselves, time and money.
