It is almost impossible to be a good samaritan anymore. Despite the popularity today of downgrading the devil to a myth or "bad karma", I have to lay it on his shoulders (the Literal Devil)...

You offer someone a ride, he/she slits your throat and dumps you at the side of the road. You offer money to someone in need, they use the money to buy heroine to shoot up their veins. It’s all part of his plan. He will make us pay with our lifeblood for every good deed we would do. To save a life, we will have to be willing to lose our own (and/or our children’s) lives.

The devil hates our guts and loves when he can do anything to come between us and God. I wish I could live by the ideal "Whatsoever you do, to the least of My people, that you do unto Me", but Jesus doesn’t want me to get my throat slit by some maniac at the side of the road.
