I thought this was a great film. It was an opportunity to get to know a family with cultural traditions from India. Even though the family lived in England, they kept their traditions and lived by them. I think watching this film tells us that family love is the same in every culture, it may just be expressed differently through traditions. I like the way the mother ruled the family until push came to shove and Papa finally had his say......and became flexible enough to meet his daughter’s needs. Without giving the ending away.....Papa realizes that some parts of tradition must change.

I think for us Catholics it says that traditions are indeed sacred, but given certain circumstances they can and should change to meet the sincere needs of the individual or group involved....but it will not change the love the Eucharistic family has for each other!
