Does the military action the U.S. is contemplating against Iraq meet the standards of a just war?
Date: 4/4/2003 7:42:36 PM Name or Pseudonym: Chris Subject: PhariseesWas Christ being "unChristian" when he called the Pharisees "a race of vipers?" Or how bout when he said they were like sepulchers, white on the outside but filthy on the inside. Or What about the time he said to Peter, "Get behind me satan!"
I hardly think my comment was even close to that. The point (for all of my over-sensitive friends) is that the comments I was responding to were rubbish. But I think you understood that and simply chose to make a mountain out of a mole hill.
There has been very specific consideration to the Catholic Just War principles, and this war meets every single criteria. Bishop Botean is free to disagree all he wants - his opinion is not binding on anyone, however official he wants to make it sound. What is clear is that the Bishop is overstepping his authority.
Why doesnt the Bishop speak up on behalf of the unborn; why doesnt he take that up with bishop Gumbleton. Ill tell you why - because they are like sepulchers. |
