Does the military action the U.S. is contemplating against Iraq meet the standards of a just war?

I do believe that we are seeing a rebirth of the clash of Christian and Muslim civilizations. There are many places throughout the world where Christians are being attacked by Muslims.
The timing of the war may be off, as it would be suggested by the Vatican saying that at this point in time, the criteria for a just war had not been met. It is definitely a gamble right now, with so many countries against us. As a superpower, we need to be careful about what we do, and how what we do affects others in different countries.
Bush had wanted this war for a long time. Back in the summer of 2002 he was beating the war drums. It was hardly done with the attitude of regret of all other avenues exhausted.
Weve set a dangerous precedent with regard to the UN. Weve basically let them know that we are above their rulings. It will hardly escape notice.
Peace,
Matthew
