How can the Catholic Church in the U.S. heal from the sex-abuse crisis?

Dear Patrick Michael

I beg you to think and pray more about what Christ taught. He left us His Church to guide us. We WILL be judged on how we have kept His Commandments, like it or not, and that makes me shudder too. The fact is that we were not put here on earth to be happy our our terms, but to love, serve and obey God. "If you love Me, you will keep My commandments".

Truth is truth, and does not change, no matter how many eons pass. Neither does humanity, unfortunately. We are still striving for personal happiness - at no matter what the cost, and we are very good at interpreting God’s words to suit our own motives.

"I think Gay Priests can serve with the same passion and commitment."

Depends what you mean. If you mean "practising" homosexual, then this is absolutely wrong. If you mean someone who has homosexual tendencies but who remains chaste, then I quite agree.

Lastly, the priesthood will never die out. We have Christ’s promise that the gates of Hell will never prevail against His Church. This doesn’t mean that it won’t die out in England, America, Europe etc. But it will never completely die. God does not lie. He will never abandon His Church. We might.

God bless
