Clergy Sex Abuse and the Catholic Church

How can the Catholic Church in the U.S. heal from the sex-abuse crisis?

Subject: Priestly Abuse in general

I was never abused as a child by a priest but have had another problem ending in divorce that I believe involved the clergy.
I will not go into all the details but it was apparent that questions about a priest’s conduct is treated as "damage control" in political terms. I got the impression that the truth is not as important as protecting the reputation of the clergy.
I was raised in Catholics schools and given a clear set of guidelines on personal conduct from the Church, as well as, from my family. What I experienced with my problems with the Church was far removed from those guidelines.
I do not believe those in the Church can monitor themselves in areas that are embarrassing. Because of this I hope the press keeps digging until everything comes to light. Without this outlet the Church will have more practicing Catholics like myself, who attend Mass, receive Communion, and hunger for the truth about what happened to their marraige, family, and life. Its an underlying anger that never goes away.
