You shall not commit adultery [Observe here the expansion of the meaning of the seventh commandment in many catechisms to include whoredom in all its forms, as well as unchastity [premarital relations, sexual impurity, and lustful desire under whatever name] Not only is adultery forbidden here, but also fornication and all kinds of mental and sensual uncleanness. All impure books, songs, pictures, etc., which tend to inflame and debauch the mind are against this law
1 Corinthians 6:18
Shun immorality and all sexual looseness [flee from impurity in thought, word, or deed]. Any other sin which a man commits is one outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body.
1 Corinthians 7:5
Do not refuse and deprive and defraud each other [of your due marital rights], except perhaps by mutual consent for a time, so that you may devote yourselves unhindered to prayer. But afterwards resume marital relations, lest Satan tempt you [to sin] through your lack of restraint of sexual desire.
Ephesians 5:3
But immorality (sexual vice) and all impurity [of lustful, rich, wasteful living] or greediness must not even be named among you, as is fitting and proper among saints (Gods consecrated people).
1 Thessalonians 4:3
For this is the will of God, that you should be consecrated (separated and set apart for pure and holy living): that you should abstain and shrink from all sexual vice,
Hebrews 13:4
Let marriage be held in honor (esteemed worthy, precious, of great price, and especially dear) in all things. And thus let the marriage bed be undefiled (kept undishonored); for God will judge and punish the unchaste [all guilty of sexual vice] and adulterous
1 Timothy 4
[2]Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron. [3]They forbid people to marry and order them to abstain from certain foods, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and who know the truth. [4]For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving,
As you have read the scriptures Marriage is a wonderful sacrament forbidding some to marry is wrong. 1 Corinthians 7
8] But to the unmarried people and to the widows, I declare that it is well (good, advantageous, expedient, and wholesome) for them to remain [single] even as I do.
But if they have not self-control (restraint of their passions), they should marry. For it is better to marry than to be aflame [with passion and tortured continually with ungratified desire]. I think that this is very well explained, Just because a person has these desires doesnt mean that they would be a failure if they marry, they could still fulfill their duties as a clergy. Christ never told the disciples not to marry, for some were married of the twelve in the inner circle of Christ.
The 10 Commandments - Gods Revelation in the Old Testament
The 10 Commandments are found in the Bibles Old Testament at Exodus, Chapter 20. They were given directly by God to the people of Israel at Mount Sinai after He had delivered them from slavery in Egypt:
"And God spoke all these words, saying: I am the LORD your God…
ONE: You shall have no other gods before Me.
TWO: You shall not make for yourself a carved image--any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.
THREE: You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain.
FOUR: Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
FIVE: Honor your father and your mother.
SIX: You shall not murder.
SEVEN: You shall not commit adultery.
EIGHT: You shall not steal.
NINE: You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
TEN: You shall not covet your neighbors house; you shall not covet your neighbors wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbors.
The 10 Commandments - Christs Summation in the New Testament
About 1,400 years later, the 10 Commandments were summed up in the New Testament at Matthew 22, when Jesus was confronted by the religious "experts" of the day:
"Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" Jesus replied: " Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments" (Matthew 22:36-40).
A reflective reading of Christs teaching reveals that the first four commandments given to the children of Israel are contained in the statement: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind." It continues that the last six commandments are enclosed in the statement: "Love your neighbor as yourself."
I feel that the clergy who has sexually violated another person should step down from their roll in the clergy, and if they choose to remain in the clergy and unmarried that they need to pray and be made perfected in love...because love works no evil toward his neighbor. |
