Subject: Your Questions

This question is far more appropriate for your website than your Bomb Iraq question. Both questions are loaded with paradoxes. The issues in both are too complex to rationally anticipate reasonable resolution by mortals. So this message is a comment not an answer to the questions.

Saint Thomas Aquinas provides rational guidelines for a just war but the actual conduct of a war has never been just. No complex conflict is ever resolved to the satisfaction of all. Does that mean government should avoid conflict? Does that mean the Church should avoid conflict? Nice thoughts, obviously not practical or realistic. AmericanCatholic.org should give thanks that our government provides sanctuary to pacifists and in some cases cowards who do not support the government’s conflicts. I suggest you keep your nose out of Caesar’s realm. How would AmericanCatholic.org feel if the BombIraq.mil website posed the discussion question: Do the actions of a pedophile priest justify castration and excommunication?
