Clergy Sex Abuse and the Catholic Church

How can the Catholic Church in the U.S. heal from the sex-abuse crisis?

Dear Cradle Catholic,

By "bishops of old" I meant the pre-modernist bishops and those who fought against modernism. They share no guilt in this pederast mess - had the modernist clergy heeded their warnings our church, the priesthood, and out theology would have remained intact.

My question to you is: what bishops of old are you accusing? while I can give you numerous examples of which bishops and clergy I meant, (Pope St. Pius X, Pope St. Pius V, Pope Pius IX, Archbishop Lefevbre, Fr. James Wathen; to name but a very few, I would be surprised if you could provide but a single name and example.

It is the responsibility of the clergy to see to our spiritual welfare - but that does not excuse us; ultimately we are responsible for ourselves, and where a member of the hierarchy preaches anyhing contrary to revealed truth, we are to ignore him.

You praise the media for the attention they have given these scandals, yet you seem to be unaware that the protestant sects have the same problem; the ratio of sexual misconduct of priests vs. protestant ministers is identical. Can’t you see that the press isn’t friendly toward the Church?

You seek a solution to the sexual abuses by a relative handful of priests, and the damnable coverups by their superior bishops, yet you don’t seem to understand that the real matter is that the rotten tree is producing rotten fruit. If you would solve this mess you would demand a return to the true Catholic Faith, not the new religion of the conciliarists.
