Clergy Sex Abuse and the Catholic Church

How can the Catholic Church in the U.S. heal from the sex-abuse crisis?

I’m no intellectual, so I was a tad worried when I saw your subject line.

In the Catholic Answer magazine, the editor mentioned that 10% of Lutheran clergy have admitted to sexual sin, but the media is much more interested in the .5 of 1% of the Catholic priests who are guilty of the same crime. This just proves that the Catholic Church is of God because Our Lord said "If the world hated Me, then it will surely hate you!" (paraphrase mine). As you can see, there is no love lost between the world and the Church. And, it also shows that even clergy that can marry are not exempt from sexual sin. If anything, they seem to be more prepared for it if they are already of that leaning.

I would also say that the journalist reminded me of someone who once said, "I’d like hospitals more if they weren’t full of sick people." Well, the Church is a spiritual hospital for sick and seeking souls. What else would you expect to find?
