How can the Catholic Church in the U.S. heal from the sex-abuse crisis?

Even though it would be tragic, I hope that the US Bishops do break from Rome - then they can fully reveal their trechery and expose themselves as the traitors that most of them are.
I wonder how many "catholics" would return to the Faith of true Catholicism and how many would join thge schismatics?
