from St. Anthony Messenger magazine and online submissions
Ring Found With Anthony's Help Three weeks ago I lost my deceased mom's engagement ring; I was heartbroken. I prayed to St. Anthony and promised a money donation.
I went home to my rebuilt home for a weekend, and there in my trailer sorting
out belongings, my ring sat on the floor underneath my bed looking up at me.
I know St. Anthony heard me. This ring meant so much to me and could have been anywheres on my property or my neighbor's. So thankful.
Patricia St. Bernard, La. Wednesday, June 25, 2008 Thanks I got a Job in an oil industry through the intercession of St Anthony of Padua.
To God be the Glory.
Anthony Nigeria Thursday, June 19, 2008 Newfound Saint I had misplaced my keys today and realized it when I was about to drop my friend off at her work. I figured I could just find it later after I got back from going out. When I got home, I asked my parents if they had accidentally taken the keys instead. They didn't have it, and now they knew it was missing. I was looking every possible place I could have left it and it was nowhere to be found. I didn't understand how I could just lose something I usually have on me all of the time. Two hours later, I was still looking for it. My dad was in a bad mood and I was getting scared that I was never going to find it. Then I remembered my friend telling me about St. Anthony and how I should pray to him because he is the Saint of lost things. So I stopped, and closed my eyes and prayed. Immediately, I felt that I should check around my rabbit's cage. Even though I looked all around my bed, I had a feeling to check between the cage and the end of my bed, and there between the two, I found my keys. I was shocked at what just happened and happy at the same time. I think St. Anthony has helped me before. I just didn't know exactly who I was praying to until now.
San Diego Saturday, June 14, 2008 Hair Clip I had a beautiful blue hair clip (I bought it very cheap for Indian Rupees 5) and was really looking nice on my hair. I used it for quite some time and one night, before sleeping I removed it from my hair and kept it aside. The next morning when I woke up and kept looking for it I just could not find it. I looked for it everywhere, searched all the places in my house, but just could not find it. This happened in the month of April or maybe March 2008, I am not that sure. This blue hair clip matched a lot of my dresses. So I felt very bad about it. Then in the month of May we went for our summer vacation around that time I bought a new blue hair clip and still I was remembering the one which I lost. I prayed once to St. Anthony (how funny I felt to pray to him for such a silly thing) for this clip. Now in the month of June the Novenas to St. Anthony has started in one of our churches in India (from June 4th to June 13th). I have done all the nine novenas and there I just prayed once again for my hair clip though my major intentions were far more grave than this one.
You won't believe it; this morning, i.e., the feast day of St. Anthony (June 13th), I got up as usual in the morning to attend the Novena to St. Anthony. When I switched on the light since it was quite dark at that time, I noticed my clip on the top of the TV Showcase. I was really stunned and shocked as to how and from where has this blue hair clip has suddenly appeared. I could not believe my eyes. I then asked my husband, as to where he found the clip. He told me he found it in the bathroom, where I keep my shampoos. For a moment I thought I had not kept it there. Then how come it landed there. But see the miracle of this blue hair clip: On the feast day of St. Anthony, I found it. I will never forget this incident. I am ever so grateful to St. Anthony. My faith in him has increased.

VQ India, Maharashtra Friday, June 13, 2008 He Always Finds What Is Lost My great-grandmother always invoked St Anthony's help to find lost things. There is a rhyme in one Italian dialect which goes something like this: "Oh blessed St. Anthony, let me find what I have lost." I have to say from personal experience that He is very active, in that I have always found what I lost. Naturally, I have asked for his assistance only when the lost item was very very important. Also, I was named after him as a sign of devotion.
antonella Genova, Italia Thursday, June 12, 2008 A Good Friend Whenever I lose something I always pray to St Anthony and he has never let me down. I received this devotion from my grandmother and my dad and I have been graced with sharing it with my children and now my grandchildren. He is a very good friend!
mary ocean , nj Monday, June 09, 2008 Many Years St. Anthony has been there for me and my family so many many times that I could never begin to mention all the times. He has not only helped us find things but have prayed to him for so many other things and he never lets us down. I am 73 years old and have been praying to him since my mother told me about St. Anthony at a very early age. Thank you St. Anthony for helping our family over the years!
DAVE SENECA FALLS, NY Monday, June 09, 2008 St. Anthony Hears Prayers My hearing aid was lost in the fall of 2007. I searched all my clothing, all the nooks and crannies in the house to no avail.
It was very difficult to participate in conversations or listen to homilies. After failing to hear all things my 4-year-old granddaughter had to say I was determined to purchase a new hearing aid.
One week ago, on my way home from my visit with her, I prayed to St Anthony.
Today, on June 4, 2008, at 5:30 PM as I went to lock my front storm door, a hearing aid was laying on the front doorstep. It was not there on previous days because I used the steps to water my flower bed.
I picked it up, cleaned it and put a new battery in it. It worked perfectly. How could it have been ouside during a frigid winter
and be in such good shape?
I truly believe that St. Anthony answered my prayer.
Gene De Pere , WI Wednesday, June 04, 2008 Wonderful Saint I am actually a Southern Baptist working at a United Methodist Church. Years ago, a dear Catholic friend of mine told me about Saint Anthony and shared a prayer I might say when I had lost something. At the Methodist church this week, two of our senior adult saints lost their wallets and were understandably in a panic. I offered a prayer to Saint Anthony and the wallets were located within the hour. I will always be grateful to my dear Catholic friend for making me aware of this wonderful saint.
Donna Kannapolis, North Carolina Wednesday, May 21, 2008 Vacationing With St. Anthony Two weeks ago my husband and I traveled to Myrtle Beach for a much needed vacation. Our family is in the midst of many trials and we needed rest and rejuvenation. The airlines routed us across the country on three planes and twelve hours later we arrived at midnight with no luggage and no golf clubs. My husband called the airlines in the morning and there was no sign of our luggage. I had recently read of the travel nightmares and I was afraid we were becoming one of the statistics. Even though my husband had just called, I took a bath and prayed, “St. Anthony, I know you have many requests. Finding some golf clubs and some luggage might not be your most important request, but my husband and I really need this vacation. Thank you for making it work out.” I called the Airlines again and heard the woman say, “We have found your luggage and it will be delivered to you within the hour.” I ran to tell my husband and he said, “It’s the power of prayer.”
The airlines lost our luggage on the return flight too. I didn’t even worry. It was delivered to us the following day. We arrived home on Mother’s Day. We were blessed with all our family present for a wonderful Mother’s Day dinner. Our six-year-old grandson, Christian said, “Nana, we have to wait to eat until we pray!”
Thank you God for giving us prayer and for your many blessings. And thank you St. Anthony for finding our luggage and our golf clubs.
Linda Auburn, Calif Monday, May 19, 2008 On the Road With St. Anthony I had lost my billfold, with cash, credit cards, everything with all my personal information and finances in it. For three days my husband and I had searched the house, my Jeep, everywhere we could possibly look. We went back to the grocery because that was the only place I had been. I left for work on the 4th day very early in the morning as I had a long drive and it was still dark. I called my mom from my cell phone and told her to go ahead and call all my credit companies and banks and tell them what had happened. She said, "Let's both pray while you drive to work that it comes up; if I don't hear from you by business hours I will make the calls." I was driving on an unlit highway in the dark and praying to St. Anthony. All of a sudden I knew to stop when I got to a lit area where there was an exit I took on my way to work. I got out of my Jeep and as soon as I stood up, there was my billfold lying against the rails on the roof of my Jeep! But you must understand that my husband is over 6' and we had searched the top of the Jeep when we had looked. I called my mother and she said she had been praying since I had called her about 20 minutes or so before. And this is not the only time that I have asked St. Anthony to intercede for my on lost items.
Connie Indiana Friday, May 09, 2008 Cat I lost my cat outside. She is an indoor cat. I kept looking for her for about 2 to 3 hours at night. I realized that I had not prayed to St. Anthony. I prayed to him and opened my front door and there was my cat. St. Anthony has helped me numerous times. He is a great Saint.
brenda mo Wednesday, May 07, 2008 Wedding Ring My daughter lost my Mom's wedding ring two years ago. Since then, we have looked through my place many times, through my jewelery boxes, through my owl ornaments that have lids. My daughter was heartbroken.
Then when she stayed overnight here a couple of weeks ago, she talked about Mom's ring again. I asked St. Anthony to find it for her.
Immediately after that, we brought out my small jewelery box to fix the locket and chain that my daughter's father had bought for her at Sears last March. I was going to look through the little drawer for a link to fix the locket. Over the last two years I had looked through that little drawer many times for different stuff. This time, when I opened that little drawer, there was Mom's ring, right on top of everything. "Look here," I said. We both cried with joy.
And we thanked St. Anthony.

Ida Winnipeg, Manitoba Tuesday, May 06, 2008 Three Miracles
Several years ago, I was farming with a friend of mine. (He was not of the Catholic faith.) We actually were weekend farmers, and were trying to finish up combining a remaining few acres of oats before the darkness set in.
Having developed trouble with one of the tractors we proceeded to repair the same. During that procedure I dropped an essential screw necessary to repair the defect. This screw, not more than 3 or 4 times the size of a screw used to hold the stem of an eyeglass, I dropped this in the oat stubble that was 6 to 8 inches tall, and in addition the sun was beginning to go down.
With that my friend exclained that we may as well quit and see if we could get the part on the following Monday.
With that I said, "John I will have this part within 5 minutes." His response was, "How do you plan to do that?" And I replied, "John, I have connections; St. Anthony will get it for me."
With that I said my prayer to St. Anthony and included "St. Anthony, I am not asking you, but I am telling you that I want this part and that I want it within 5 minutes."
Within 5 minutes, I had the part to the amazing astonishment of my friend. The hair on my neck stood up as I realized what I had done in telling St. Anthony of my demands.
We repaired the tractor and finished the oats.
The following day my friend was working alone with his tractor, and lost something he was carrying on the tractor. He got off the tractor and said the prayer to St. Anthony, and promptly found the item that he lost.
A few days later I went into the local family restaurant and he was down at the far end of the counter telling those around him of the two encounters he witnessed with St. Antohoy.
The wife of the restaurant owner came down to where I was sitting, and requested that since I had connections with St. Anthony would I ask him to find an article that her husband had lost and was unable to find. I said to her that I was not sure that St. Anthony was even talking to me any more after my demanding of him that favor I mentioned earlier. But I said that I would ask him if he would on his terms intercede in finding this lost item. This was midOctober.
Several months passed and in early March, I went into the same restaurant.
The gentleman owner came right up to me and said that he had found the item that they requested me to ask St. Anthony to find.
He asked me if I would like to know how it was found. When I said yes, he replied that he had decidecd to make a birthday cake for me, and when he opened the can the flour was kept in the item was there.
I like to think St. Anthomy forgave me.
New York Tuesday, May 06, 2008 Thanks for Earring I just want to share with you the wonders of St. Anthony. He is all powerful and He has always helped me when I ask. Last Wednesday, April 30, I lost one of my stud diamond earrings and I couldn't even remember where it could have fallen out. I prayed to St. Anthony fervently. Five days later, I found my earrings on the ground outside my office right where my husband drops me off. Thank you dear St. Anthony for all who said a prayer for me. Thank You!
Nenuca Virginia Monday, May 05, 2008 Miraculous Recovery One of my colleagues had misplaced a beautiful chain on one friday and she was not aware, whether she misplaced it in the office, in the car or on the road whilst going home. She was totally shattered. I then told her to check her car once again and see if it is in there. She just could not find it. The office security was also screened and so was the housekeeping staff. Then I told her to pray to St. Anthony who is a saint for all lost and stolen items and that all catholics pray to him for any loss or stolen goods. I even went to St. Anthony's church on tuesday and prayed to St. Anthony for her to recover the chain. Then the coming friday (i.e. exactly one week after she lost the chain), her husband called her up and gave her the good news that the chain was found in the car itself. It was in fact behind the carpet. She was so grateful and thankful that she came and spilled this news first thing to me in the office and even gave me money to offer mass. Then I went and offered Mass at the St. Anthony's shrine. Thanks a ton to St. Anthony. You are ever so powerful. I even tell my children to pray to him for anything that gets misplaced.
VQ Maharashtra, India Wednesday, April 30, 2008 CD-ROM Found I had lost my CD-ROM with the pictures taken of my ex-fiance and me on the day he proposed. While things didn't work out between us, the pictures on the CD still meant a lot to me. I had looked everywhere I could think of to look at both my apartment and at my grandmother's home. Earlier this month, I prayed to St. Anthony myself & had requested prayer intentions on my behalf to find the CD-ROM. My grandmother called me on 4/26 to tell me that she had accidentally found the CD-ROM I was feverishly looking for during my last visit. I just KNEW that St. Anthony had heard the prayers and helped in the finding of the CD-ROM.
Sandra Portland, TN Monday, April 28, 2008 Thanks to St. Anthony We are grateful to St. Anthony for helping us find our daughter's diamond ring which she had entrusted us to have repaired, and which we subsequently had misplaced. We found it today.
Thank you for the intervention by St. Anthony on our behalf with the Lord. We have sent a token of gratitude to further Catholic information and Franciscan inspiration.
Hans North Tustin, California Sunday, April 27, 2008 Wallet Found For one week we have searched every inch of the house for my son's wallet. Last night it occurred to me to pray with my son to St. Anthony. On this website, I saw someone else who lost a wallet and from that message felt the wallet was in the garage. Tonight my husband found the wallet under the seat in the back of the truck, where we had looked, but perhaps not carefuly enough. Thank you so much, St. Anthony!
Paula MN Saturday, April 26, 2008 Much Help St. Anthony has helped me and many of my family and friends find lost things. He helped my daughter find a ring that she lost. He helped a friend find a lost cell phone that was accidentally packed in a box going to soldiers in Iraq. Tonight I prayed that he would help me find my car keys. I lost both sets of keys and would not have been able to drive my car. Not only did he help me find my car keys but he helped find my husband's keys as well. I just wanted to thank him in public for all of his ongoing help. By the way, I have found that he helps me find things by giving me an idea in my mind's eye where I should look for an item.
Alyse NY Monday, April 21, 2008 Prayers Answered Recently I'd misplaced a diamond cross necklace that my husband had given me for my birthday last year. We had placed our house up for sale last summer and that meant putting all prized posessions away into safe keeping. I have searched and I have searched and it was no where to be found. Over the last few weeks I have asked St Anthony for help in telling me where to look. Today, I prayed to him again for help. After my prayer, I went straight to my jewelry box in our bedroom to look again. I started by looking in a box that contained a pair of earrings. In that box was THE necklace I'd been looking for! I was moved to tears when I found it because I thought I'd misplaced it and it was gone for good.
I know this necklace may not seem like much to some, but to me it was the world and I am SO grateful I have found it with the help of St Anthony and wanted to show him just how grateful I am/was.
VS MI Friday, April 18, 2008 Praise I believe in St.Anthony's miracles and power. I did not know about HIM because I was born and brought up as Protestant. I came to know about St. Anthony through a Catholic friend. We did not have a child for 8 years of marriage. With strong faith and trust on St. Anthony I prayed to Him to bless us with a child and graciously let us also hold our baby like St. Anthony holding a baby Jesus in HIS arm. He answered our prayer and blessed us with a child. It is a great miracle for us and still we wonder and praise St. Anthony for HIS power to do Miracles. Now my wife is pregnant for 4 months and I have faith and trust on St. Anthony that HE will be with my wife and with my child and bless us to have a very Blessed child with a normal delivery. It is a miracle happened in our life by St. Anthony. I want to share my miraculous experience to you all to Praise and Glorify St. Anthony's Name.
J.K. ILLINOIS Tuesday, April 15, 2008 St. Anthony Works My beloved dog Dillon made an escape during the night of April 3 which I didn't discover until the following morning. I called for him, I drove the neigboring vicinity numerous times, showing his pictures around. I contacted various rescue agencies, visited the pound, posted fliers, but no dog. I tried to wait it out, see if he might come home on his own, but nothing. I was beginning to wonder if I was being punished for leaving the gate unlocked, and if God had decided Dillon would not be returned to me.
Finally my sister in Houston told me to ask 'Brother' Anthony to help me find my dog, She always talks to him when she loses things. Her mother-in-law had told her to talk to 'Brother' Anthony when she lost things. I did not know Brother Anthony. But I cried and prayed to God and Brother Anthony to please return my dog.
In the early afternoon of 4/10, I got a phone call; a couple who lives a number of miles north of me had found my dog on 4/5 & they were holding him!! He was safe and unharmed and they had taken very good care of him. Yesterday afternoon, me and Dillon had a happy and noisey reunion.
Bless those people, I am grateful for their compassion for Dillon, and I thank God and St Anthony on my knees for his safe return.
So if you lose something very dear to you, talk to St Anthony, he works for you!
Kathy Tulsa, Ok Friday, April 11, 2008 Wallet I knew I took just my wallet to the store this afternoon and when i came back i just put it down in the garage while talking to neighbors. At 6:30 I had an appointment and realized I couldn't find my wallet. I prayed to St Anthony for the past 4 hours, while searching on hands and knees for it. I even put a "all points bulletin" out to my neighbors thinking I may have placed it on the car and drove away. then while getting ready for bed, i looked down on the floor and it was like it jumped out at me. My wallet was under my dresser where I know i looked at least 30 times tonight.
I know in my heart of hearts, St Anthony was there to help me. thank you St Anthony!
Cara Indianapolis, IN Wednesday, April 09, 2008 St. Anthony Always Provides On Easter Sunday, I realized I had lost an earring, most likely at church. I called to ask if it had been found, but was told no. Because the earring is important to me - my mom who has passed gave it to me - I decided to go to the church in person after praying to St. Anthony asking for the return of my earring. When I went to the church, I was told no earring had been found. I was kind of persistent, and said that St. Anthony never let me down, and could I go look anyway. We proceeded to the lost and found spot, and there it was! The person I was with couldn't believe it, and said it had not been there before. I said it was okay, the important thing was that it was there now, as I knew St. Anthony would provide, as always. Thank you St. Anthony!
Elayne Rhode Island Wednesday, April 02, 2008 Earring I lost my gold earring on Jan 2008 and was very sad as that was my husbands precious gift for me .
After 3 month, I went to a chapel to pray , I found saint antonys book and that said he is the saint to find the lost things.
I thought myself the only thing I lost is my gold earring three month back, and I prayed to him on Friday 29th march 2008 and after 2 days I found it inside the gas stove . It was really a miracle that my prayer were answered within two days .
Maria Boston Tuesday, April 01, 2008 Never Fails St. Anthony has been my mum's patron for years till now (who is not a catholic but she accepted christ at the age of 73). She believes that whatever she asked God through St. Anthony was answered and she always would call out his name. After seeing all the wonders for years, he also became my patron and through his intercessions for me, after 10 years, God blessed me with a beautiful daughter (1st child) who brought so much of joy and happiness to me and my husband. St Anthony intercedes for everybody, who asks for things from their hearts according to God's will. St Anthony never fails us. St Anthony is my first Saint that I look for whenever I need a shoulder to cry or help. He keeps us close to God. Thank you Lord and St Anthony for all the miracles and wonders that happened in my life in times of sorrows and happy moments. Thank you, you will always be my patron.
Michelle Kuala Lumpur, West Malaysia Monday, March 31, 2008 Thanks I really do not know much about St. Anthony, but when I was still young, I remember my mom telling me to pray to St. Anthony and to ask for his help whenever something gets lost. So since then, I would always ask for his help whenever I lose something in the house and almost instantly I would find it. He has never failed me yet. He always answers my prayers. Thank you St. Anthony!
Ivy Manila, Philippines Monday, March 31, 2008 Two Occasions of Help I have had two occasions where I KNOW St. Anthony helped me find a lost object. Two weeks ago I noticed the beautiful gold bracelet my
husband gave me for our 25th wedding anniversary was not on my arm. I began to pray to St. Anthony to help me find it. (My grandmother's favorite saint and she always told us to pray to him.) My job takes me to 3 different cities each week as well as 2 homes. Lost and found advertisements were put in the newspaper as well as on line at work. Everywhere I went I looked for my bracelet and prayed to St. Anthony. I wouldn't believe it was gone. One morning at work I received an e-mail with the subject line "I found your bracelet." A brand new employee was walking across the parking lot and saw my bracelet on the ground. It had been there next to my parking place for 2 weeks. How wonderful it was to see my gift again. Thank you St. Anthony.
Ten years ago I noticed only one pearl earring sitting on my desk. The earrings were given to me by my husband on the birth of our first child. They are very special and I wear them almost every day. I began to pray to St. Anthony as I looked frantically around the desk.
All of a sudden I heard a "ping" and saw the missing earring on the floor far away from the desk. It had not been there moments before and this was witnessed by both my daughters and me. Thank you St. Anthony.
Candace Louisiana Sunday, March 30, 2008 Bag Found My bag was stolen a month ago in a restaurant in central London, UK. I have just been called by the Police to say that they've recovered my purse! One of the things I was most upset to have lost was my Saint's card that I carry around with me always because my best friend's mum had given it to me at the time of my best friend's dad passing away. Of course the Saint being St Anthony! Police have confirmed that the card is still in the purse, so I think in some way he helped to be found again!
Michelle London Sunday, March 23, 2008 Unbelievable Help This is so unbelievable...my son called and told me that keys to the work van were lost and they were blaming him because he was the last person to use the van. He said he might get suspended from work. He was absolutely positive he put them back and thought someone might have stolen them (he works at a school for delinquent boys). He was very upset and I felt so bad for him especially because it is Holy Saturday. I immediately got on my computer and started saying any prayer I could find to St. Anthony. He has helped me NUMEROUS times before. I was still on this website when my son called and said the keys were found in a place where he hadn't even been. Thank you again St. Anthony!!!!!!
Saturday, March 22, 2008 Furniture Sold I prayed to my patron saint to bring someone to my ad, that would want to purchase my son's furniture. I needed the money badly to pay off bills. And, within 24 hours the furniture was sold. I owe it all to my St. Anthony.
Kim Tigard, Oregon Sunday, March 16, 2008 Miracle Ok so I had just lost my dad's credit card, and i despratley nedded to find it so that he could use it when he left to go out of town for the weekend. It had been lost for several weeks So when my dad asked me for it, i knew it had been lost. So i searched for Saint Anthony and found this message board that gave me the inspiration to pray hard to him to find the credit card. I went to look in my car, that i keep clean, and there it was right behind the drivers seat. I ran inside and now I am writing this message to show everyone that the Lord works miracles, and will always be there when you need him most. I am so grateful that i found this message board to give me faith when i needed it the most!
jamie Midland, tx Wednesday, March 12, 2008 Schoolbook My son Nathan had misplaced his English book in school for almost two days, I immediately started praying to St. Anthony and lo and behold on the third day, we found it. I made Nathan too to pray to St. Anthony. Thanks so much.
VQ India, Maharashtra Monday, March 10, 2008 Engagement Ring I got engaged on Christmas Eve - and on 28th of Feb i lost my ring! i retraced all my steps - the Bank, the shop, i searched the car, the compost bin (!) the kitchen bin, the cat litter tray, the washing machine, drier, dishwasher - i searched the house inside and out! A few people had said that i should pray to St Anthony and it would be found. So today, March 8th i went to the church and said a prayer to St Anthony - i also asked my friend Anne who died suddenly last November if she saw where i lost it to mention it to St Anthony because i'm sure he is very busy. Shortly after I arrived home (not more than an hour after i'd been to Church to petition St Anthony i got an urge to check the drier again - and to look under the filter. So i took out the filter, shone a small torch into the gap below - and there it was!! i can hardly believe it !! So thank you St Anthony for your help. I am going to go to church again tomorrow to petition St Anthony again, this time to find a lost child, Madeleine.
Marie ireland Saturday, March 08, 2008 Records Found I asked for prayer yesterday, to help my girlfriend find her immunization records for school. She is in collegee, and needs these records before she can receive her final grades. She is 49 years old, and these records were from back in grade school. Thank you St. Anthony, she found them today.
Randy CutOff, La Thursday, February 28, 2008 St. Anthony's Helper I cruised in Oct. 07, on the Golden Princess ship. I found a wallet filled with lots of cash money and credit cards in one of the ports in a store. I yelled out the name of the man and I immediatly found him and returned his lost wallet. I didn't ask for a reward. I was just happy to return his wallet. He was a young man.
On Feb. 11, 08, I cruised on the "Monarch of the seas" ship....and again I found a gal's wallet filled with lots of cash and credit cards.
I found the gal by calling her cabin number and again I gave it to her without asking for a reward.
I have never in my life had the experience of finding lost wallets until recently.
I wonder if St. Anthony uses me to find the wallets of travelers because he knows I will make sure they get their wallets with all of their cash and credit cards.
Lucia Glendale, California Saturday, February 16, 2008 No Coincidence I have long had an affinity for St. Anthony, since i was a child. I really can't explain why; i just always knew of him somehow, and felt a riveting bond. I would pray to him, if i misplaced things, often being called on by other family members to solicit his help in finding important "lost" things.
I had a hard childhood, and left home to venture on my own, in an attempt to find my path and to protect myself from abuse. Like St. Anthony, i have always been one to follow my own drummer, and to not partake in the popular vote or mentality. It has been a difficult life; i have often felt very alone and rejected.
I believe God shows his face in mysterious ways. I was raised rural, and love animals with a passion, even though i find myself living in a huge metropolis. Somehow, i have hung onto my simplicity therein. I was walking today, feeling misplaced and alone. I encountered a dog that is 16 years old, and can barely breathe or walk. However, whenever he sees me, he becomes so excited. He wags his tail and runs (sometimes out into traffic!) to get to me. The owner is fully shocked by his repsonse to me, declaring he can barely walk a block but reacts like that to me! He hardly has an appetite but is far too happy to take a biscuit or two (that i carry with me for all the neighborhood dogs) when offered. He showers me with heart-touching unconditional acceptance and love, and i feel his joy at my being. Rarely do i feel this from my human counterparts, or anywhere really.
I finally asked the owner today, what his name is.
She replied, "Tony."
Coincidence? perhaps...but i, i think not.
Ohio Thursday, February 14, 2008 Divine Intercession My mother taught me from a young age to ask for St. Anthony's help in finding lost items. This has helped me to keep a peaceful attitude, to pray with faith rather than fretting. 35 years ago, when I was 15 years old, I prayed to St. Anthony to help find what now seems an insignificant item. I had lost my belt & felt I desperately needed it. I prayed, & a lamp turned on in my bedroom, with no one near it Figuring it must be help, I looked at my bedroom from the angle of the lamp, & sure enough found the belt! This incident still helps my faith in prayers & Divine intercession.
June CA Tuesday, February 12, 2008 Faith in St. Anthony A colleague at work was expressing great distress over the loss of her safety deposit box keys. They had been missing since before Christmas and she said she looked everywhere for them. She told me she would have to make an appointment with the bank and for a costly fee have the box opened. I told her that she must look one more time for them and that I will ask for St. Anthony's help in what appeared to be a hopeless situation. Now, this lady always speaks very low and I have never heard her raise her voice in the 10 years I have known her. Just yesterday, one day after our conversation, she called screaming and near tears. She found the keys. My heart rejoiced in the discovery and the intervention of St. Anthony. My faith grew even stronger because of this. God's spiritual people (heavenly and earthly) are my inspiration. Thank you, St. Anthony, for your assistance. I know you are always there for me.
noella New Brunswick, Canada Tuesday, February 12, 2008 Good Grades I wish to submit my utmost heartfelt thanks to our St. Anthony and through him to our Lord, Jesus Christ, for having heard my prayers for my children to pass their exams. Both passed in first grade.
Jennifer kampala, Uganda Monday, February 04, 2008 Passports Found Two years ago, I asked my father who is an 83-year-old widower, if he would like to take a tour to Sicily and his hometown which he hadn't been back since 1960. He was so pleased that I wanted to take him on vacation. I couldn't find his old passport from 1960. I looked throughout his whole house in every draw and closet. Since he was born in New York City, we went to get a copy of his birth certificate at City Hall. We then applied for a new passport for him. For three months we waited for his passport. Our trip was one week away, and we went to the passport office to find out what was the problem. The agent said my father's citizenship was revoked because he served in the Italian Army during World War II. My father was drafted into Mussolini's army; he had no choice. I argued with the agent that he came to the US in 1949 with a American passport and he had gone to Italy in 1960 with an American passport. She said that she would have Washington D.C. look for his 1960 passport, but it would be done manually because this is before documents were entered on computers. The agent didn't know how long this would take.
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday we went to the passport office and begged the agent to help us to speed the process since we were to leave for Sicily that Friday. My poor father was so disappointed and said I should go alone without him. Thursday morning we went to the bank to his safe-deposit box thinking it might be there--it wasn't. I had a St. Anthony novena pray, and with all my heart prayed to St. Anthony for his help to locate my father's old passport as proof that he was given an American passport.
I told my father let's go back to his house again to search for the passport. My father thought this was useless. I decided to look in the basement again. This time I went into the boiler room and started looking randomly throwing everything out of a closet onto the floor--nothing. But then I noticed the old dining table and chairs had a torn-up old shopping bag and I looked inside and there were the 1949 and 1960 passports that I was searching for.
It took me 15 minutes to find his passports. That same morning we went back to the passport office with the passports and showed it to the agent. She told us to wait as she went to her supervisor with the passports to get his approval. By 12 noon my father had his new passport and the following day we were off to Sicily.
I told my father about my prayer to St. Anthony and how this was truly miraculous. St. Anthony never fails. I am very grateful to God and St. Anthony that my father was able to go on vacation.
Queens, NY Sunday, February 03, 2008 Keys and More Keys About 5 years ago, I had just started a new job with a retail store. While helping a customer, an important key fell off of my key ring. Being in a new job, I was very frazzled with having lost this key and frantically searched all over the floor under the clothing racks, even across the aisle in case it bounced.
I had 2 other people helping me search to no avail. One of my co-workers suggested I ask St. Anthony to help. After asking for his help, I reached into the pocket of a coat hanging on one of the racks (WHAT ARE THE CHANCES OF THAT) and there was the key.
This morning, I was cleaning the snow off of my car with my keys in my hand. After a few minutes I went to start my car so it would warm up while I finished brushing off the snow. That's when I realized my car key was no longer on my key ring. I knew I hadn't left if elsewhere because I had used in to unlock the car to get out my snow brush. I realized in must have fallen into the snow. I searched and searched. It could have been anywhere and covered in snow. I had already cleaned off half of my car and had been brushing a lot of snow to the ground (about 5 inches on the car). I raked through the snow with my brush for several minutes then I went to get the shovel. I started picking up shovels full of snow and tossing them to the side in hopes that I would find my key (a black chunky VW key).
I searched in total for over 30 minutes. Then I remembered St. Anthony. I asked him for help. I told him that if he helped my find my key, I would tell everyone about him and that I would e-mail the co-worker that told me about St. Anthony 5 years ago (we don't work together anymore) and let her know of his help. In less than 5 minutes I found my key IN SEVERAL INCHES OF SNOW, about 3-4 feet in front of my car!
Sara Milwaukee, WI Friday, February 01, 2008 Guidance From Above Last year, around February, we got news from my husband's employer that they were moving their office from Lubbock to Austin, Texas. Because of the move, they were urging all employees to relocate. We debated with the thought, and we prayed to Saint Anthony for guidance. The company initially permitted my husband to stay and work in Lubbock for 3 months until we got things situated. The following month, we went back home to the Philippines for a much-needed vacation. We were in time to attend Sulangan's (a pilgrimage barrio in Guiuan E. Samar known for Saint Anthony's miracles) fiesta. While there, we prayed to Saint Anthony for guidance and to bless our decisions.
We took every chance we got to attend Mass in Sulangan. We came back to Texas after a month, and soon afterwards, we got an overseas call from the Cofradia asking if we would like to be Hermanos ( fiesta Sponsors )for the Saint Anthony's fiesta in 2015. We agreed with all our heart. July came, and we decided to put our house on the market. We listed it hoping that we could relocate at the soonest possible time. There were a lot of prospective buyers, but none of them made a reasonable offer. Days turned into months and we were getting desperate. Fall came, still no offers on the house. But all the while, we kept praying to Saint Anthony.
Meanwhile, the company that my husband was working for announced that they were financially burdened. They lost one of their major investors. Because of this, they were 2 weeks late in paying my husband's salary. (And it was only 2 weeks before Christmas!) We feared the worst, but we still hung on. We knew that amidst the trying times, God through Saint Anthony was trying to tell us something. Out of desperation, my husband tried applying for a job based in New Braunfels (a city 30 min. away from San Antonio, Texas). Within a week, he got interviewed and finally hired. He started working for the company on the 2nd day of January 2008. (The work environment was what my husband has been praying for.)
He loves his job and the people that he works with. My husband now has an apartment in San Antonio. January 14th came, a new family looked at our house. Two days after, our Realtor was calling us with the news. The family made an offer and we accepted. We signed the contract Friday Jan 18th. Here's the most amazing part, the family will close on the house on May 27th! This means that our girls will stay in their school until the school year ends. All through these trying times we knew in our hearts, that Someone was guiding us and that's where we intend to stay.
texas Thursday, January 31, 2008 Wallets and More Wallets (One day, my sister who is married to an american doctor called to tell us that her husband lost his wallet on the way back from a fishing trip, so we help her pray to St Anthony and after a day, his husband's wallet was returned to their clinic.)
Last October 2007, we were hosting a canadian guest during the mascara festival in our city. As we watched the street parade of participating groups and joined the street dancing and amidst thousand of spectators and participants on the streets, my friend lost his wallet. It contained all his IDs and money for his carpenters' pay for the week. So after tracing our routes following the street parade it was impossible to find. So we went back to the hotel, and I shared the story of St. anthony's miracle. with my brother-in-law, and advised him to pray for his intercession. Lo and behold, the next day, while my friend was busy cancelling hs credit cards and re-applying for his driver's license, someone returned his wallet to their house! Isn't that great! Our canadian guest commented, "YOUR FAITH IS SCARY."
My friend is a member of a catholic business group and shared his testimony to his group. Two months later, a member lost her wallet. Learning the lesson, they all prayed for her behalf; after a day again her wallet was returned! Now this is really GREAT! I've always beleived in St Anthony. Stories about his miracles have been manifested in all my family of 6 siblings and cousins.
