While Shrek was living a solitary life in the forest, before
he fell for Fiona, Puss in Boots (voice of Antonio Banderas) was an abandoned kitty growing up in a Spanish orphanage. One of his friends is Humpty Dumpty, and as the film tells us, be careful who
your friends are.
We learn how Puss got his boots, how he was wrongly accused
then took the wrong path, and how he and Humpty became enemies. But they want
to make up for the wrong they have done by paying back the money they stole, so
they plan to find the goose that lays golden eggs. But they need the magic
beans that Jack for by selling the cow, and Jack and Jill have stolen them.
You see where this is going, right?
“Puss in Boots” is a contrived tale of a quasi-felonious feline that wants to get back his good name. No
matter that the golden goose that lays golden eggs looks like a two-week old
baby duckling.
The movie looks good but is only mildly entertaining.
