Zack and Miri Make a Porno
By
Source: Catholic News Service
Wayward comedy in which two cash-strapped roommates (Seth Rogen and Elizabeth Banks) find their long-standing platonic friendship complicated when they star in their own improvised pornographic movie to pay the bills. Romantic aspirations are undercut in writer-director Kevin Smith's film by a frivolous approach to pornography which, instead of a profit-driven assault on human dignity, is portrayed as a lark and even as a means of self-fulfillment. Strong sexual content, including graphic nonmarital and aberrant sexual activity; adultery; frontal male and female, upper female and rear nudity; much sexual and some scatological humor; pervasive rough and crude language; and a few uses of profanity. The USCCB Office for Film & Broadcasting classification is O—morally offensive. The Motion Picture Association of America rating is R—restricted; under 17 requires accompanying parent or adult guardian.
