Gritty, award-winning Irish independent film about two struggling musicians (Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova) who, through a shared love of music, forge a friendship that leads to the creation of a band, making a demo recording. The two leads are so harmonious in their acting and in their music that the bittersweet resolution is both sad and uplifting, while writer-director John Carney's love for the craft of creating music shows in every frame.
