Strained tale of a westernized Indian Canadian (Rahul Khanna) under pressure to present a traditional Indian woman as his fiancee so he hires someone he believes is Spanish (Lisa Ray) to pass as Indian, with budding romance complicating matters. Writer-director Deepa Mehta colorfully satirizes Bollywood-genre films but stereotypical characters, some hammy acting and bogus melodrama undercut any intended humor and charm.
