Tasty German romantic comedy in which the orderly world of an uptight professional chef (Martina Gedeck) is turned upside down when she becomes the caretaker of her orphaned niece (Maxime Foerste) and the restaurant where she works hires a boisterous Italian sous-chef (Sergio Castellitto), leading to amorous possibilities. Although not the most original recipe, writer-director Sandra Nettelbeck's old-fashioned romance combines tantalizing scenes of luscious food preparation and consumption with finely nuanced characters and performances in a tale that urges one not to settle for fast food when a gourmet meal is available. Subtitles. Romantic complications and fleeting crass language. The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops classification is A-II -- adults and adolescents. The Motion Picture Association of America rating is PG -- parental guidance suggested.
