Discovering Hope and Joy in Advent

American Catholic Radio is blessed with some great "go-to" people for the variety of topics we treat under the heading of "faith formation." That blessing comes in part through our relationship with the other product lines offered by St. Anthony Messenger Press. This year, the Press continued its popular series of books aimed at preparation for the liturgical seasons, with Daily Reflections for Advent 2009, by Fr. Daniel J. Harrington, S.J. This little book sits on my bedside stand right now, where I can turn to it for homily prep during the current Advent season. Father Dan has a gift for expressing the themes of Scripture in a concise, easy-to-understand style.

So our ACR team naturally turned to Father Dan to help us bring you the Advent themes which emerge from our Sunday readings at Mass in these days before Christmas. I spoke with him a couple of months ago, and our conversation was like a mini-course in the Bible! He touched upon the second coming of Christ, Advent hope and joy, the infancy narratives and much more. In fact, there was so "much more" that we decided to let Father Dan "bookend" each of our Advent programs. You can hear him at the beginning and end of our show.

We hope our "go-to" guy for Advent, Fr. Daniel Harrington, along with our other Advent guests and features, will help you celebrate the season of Christmas in the true spirit. Merrry Christmas from our American Catholic Radio team!
