The Franciscan Gift

We Franciscans around the world are preparing to celebrate the feast day of our founder, St. Francis of Assisi, on Sunday, October 4. The year 2009 has been a special year for us, since we've been concluding a three-year celebration marking 800 years since Francis first received his vocation, and heard the God calling him to travel the roads, living poor, working and begging for what he needed, and preaching the Good News of God's love to everyone. Around the world, Franciscan men and women have been celebrating this anniversary.

We call this celebration "The Grace of Our Origins." Franciscans the world over have explored during this time the themes which inspired Francis, and which we believe still motivate his followers today. Those themes are the foundation for our work here at Franciscan Radio each week—simplicity, solidarity with the poor, working together, joyfully to bring Christ to others!

May those values touch your lives through our radio ministry!
