Being Faith-filled Citizens
As one of the most important national elections in recent history draws
near, the U.S. bishops have issued a statement entitled “Faithful Citizenship: The
Challenge of Forming Consciences.” This important teaching document guides American
Catholics in doing just that—forming their consciences—before they cast their
vote. American Catholic Radio is beginning a multi-part series that will continue
until the November elections. We’ll address the values that the bishops’ document
singles out as “guideposts” for making responsible choices. Our “Exploring
Our Faith” interviews will query Catholic experts familiar with these values. Our
first interview is with Franciscan Father Joe Nangle about how our faith calls for social
responsibility.
In addition, we’ll be keeping things light with a look at the
spirituality of summer leisure activities and vacations. We hope you find some time to
enjoy them!
