Lord, Send Forth Your Spirit
What do country music and the Holy Spirit have in common? Well, for
one thing you’ll hear about both of them this month on American Catholic Radio! We’re
celebrating the great feast of Pentecost in the Church, and we have some Spirit-filled
guests on the program. Katrina Rae is a country singer who seemed headed for a great career
in music. But God had other plans and led her to a full-time ministry of evangelization—including
her singing. Judy Zarick has a two-part interview with Katrina in our “Living Faith” segment.
I was able to meet Katrina and her husband in person last month at a religious education
conference, and their enthusiasm for the task of evangelization is infectious.
Our executive producer John Feister interviewed Franciscan author
Albert Haase. He wrote a book about the Holy Spirit with his sister Bridget, who belongs
to the Ursuline Sisters. Sister Bridget will be joining our ACR line up soon with
periodic “Minute Meditation” selections based on her Well Said series
of books, which feature the wisdom and insights of children. John also begins a two-part
interview with spiritual director and teacher Peggy Bernecker, who uses the image of a garden and
talks about the “soil of our own life” as a place where God plants seeds of
spirituality.
May your radio ministry be a fruitful garden where the Holy Spirit
can bring about new life in the Church!
