Easter
Happy Easter! As Christians celebrate the fundamental truth that Jesus
Christ rose from the dead, your listeners will want to hear how our faith in the Resurrection
is expressed and how they might live out that faith.
Recent stories of the so-called “lost tomb of Jesus” prompted
us to interview biblical expert Father Donald Senior from Catholic Theological Union in
Chicago, Illinois, about the Bible’s stories on the Risen Jesus. Producer Judy Zarick
will help listeners understand what it means to profess a Risen Jesus. She talks with Sudanese
refugee Valentino Achak Deng about his Catholic faith and surviving the horrors in his
country amidst the 23-year history of violence and mass killings in the Sudan. She also
talks with David Heimann, a pilgrim making a year-long trek to 365 different churches throughout
the world. Producer John Feister brings Father Albert Cutié to our ACR microphone
this month. Father Cutié is a radio and TV personality dedicated to bringing the
Christian message to a wide audience.
In the Church, the Easter season is known as the time of mystagogy—a
Greek-related word which describes how newly baptized Christians come to a deeper understanding
of the dying and rising of Christ. It’s about “the rest of their lives” as
Christians, learning to live in imitation of Jesus, in self-sacrificing love. It’s
what we do here on ACR! We want to share the lived Christian experience with
you.
