Lenten Radio Retreat
For the second year in a row, Lenten Radio Retreat is being offered to radio stations by the U.S. bishops’ Catholic Communication Campaign (CCC) in association with Franciscan Radio. Lenten Radio Retreat is a half-hour program to facilitate the prayer and reflection that are key components of Catholic Lenten practice. There are six English-language and six Spanish-language retreats in the series—one in each language for each Sunday of Lent, beginning with February 25.
Each program is hosted by Elia Castillo and features a bishop as retreat guide and homilist for the particular Lenten Sunday. Meditative music and a question-and-answer segment with the bishop are also part of each program, which concludes with a wrap-up by the host and the bishop’s blessing.
Lenten Radio Retreat is available to radio outlets throughout the United States on compact disc, free of charge, on a non-exclusive basis. The series was produced for the CCC by Franciscan Radio. Those who want to receive a set of programs or more information can contact Executive Producer Pat Ryan Garcia (pgarcia@usccb.org), 202-541-3404.
The retreats and other Lenten resources are available at the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Web site, www.usccb.org/lent, as well as directly at www.radioretreat.org. Detailed program descriptions, background information on the bishops and links to other Lenten spiritual resources are also located there. The programs can be downloaded from the Web site as MP3 files for podcast or other personal use.
May our Lenten retreat programs offer your listeners an “audio space” in which to focus their Lenten prayer!
