Upcoming Programs
Catholic Schools Week and Black History Month
American Catholic Radio wants to be timely with its adult faith
formation offerings to your listeners! Catholic education and African-American history
are the themes of our current pair of programs.
We celebrate Catholic Schools Week in dioceses across the U.S. at this
time of year. Many Catholics age 40 and over are products of Catholic schools, and
even though there are fewer Catholic schools now, Catholic education at all levels is still
a powerful force in our Church in the U.S. John Feister interviews Sister Jean Patrice
Harrington, S.C., a former president of a Catholic college with a broad vision for Catholic
education.
As part of ACR’s observance of Black History Month, we
will visit with filmmaker Jayasri Hart and Sister Antona Ebo. These two women will introduce
you to the story of Sisters of Selma: Bearing Witness for Change, a PBS
documentary that tells the story of Sister Antona and other Catholic sisters who went to
Selma, Alabama, in 1965 and demonstrated on behalf of civil rights and an end to segregation.
Actor Clarence Gilyard, well-known from his roles in Walker, Texas Ranger, Matlock and
several major movies, will share how Catholicism is an integral part of his life. Future
programs will feature Father Cyprian Davis, O.S.B., prominent historian in the field of
Black Catholics in the U.S.
Help your listeners deepen their Catholic identity with American
Catholic Radio !
