Sinner Contest Rules

GENERAL. No purchase necessary to win. Purchases will not increase your chances of winning, which will depend on the number of eligible entries received. Contest runs from 09:00 AM January 23, 2012 until February 6, 2012. For purposes of these Official Contest Rules, all times are Eastern Standard Time (EST). By entering, entrants agree to be bound by these Official Contest Rules, including all eligibility requirements. All entries become the property of Franciscan Media, LLC (the “Sponsor”) and will not be returned. Void where prohibited.
ELIGIBILITY. Contest open only to legal residents of the Continental U.S.A., who, at the time of entry, are eighteen (18) years of age or older. Residents of Florida, New York, Rhode Island, Puerto Rico, Alaska and Hawaii and any United States territory are ineligible, as well as residents of any other jurisdiction where prohibited or restricted by law. Employees and independent contractors of Sponsor or its affiliates, their immediate family members, and persons residing in the same household, are also ineligible. By entering this Contest, entrants represent and warrant to Sponsor that they meet the eligibility requirements set forth herein. Winners may also be required to sign a declaration or affidavit of eligibility in order to receive their prize. If a Winner cannot be reached after reasonable efforts have been exerted during sixty (60) business days from the date of the Contest drawing, or if he/she is found to be ineligible, or if he/she cannot or does not comply with these Official Contest Rules, such Winner will be disqualified and an alternate Winner may be selected.
HOW TO ENTER. To enter the Contest, entrants must visit www.AmericanCatholic.org/Sinner, a website owned and controlled by Sponsor (the "Website") and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the entry form by providing all of the information requested (i.e. name, address, phone number, email address). If an entrant desires, he or she will also have the option of providing a short statement regarding something that the entrant likes about the Author (as defined below), Author’s radio program, podcasts, book or other media projects). An entrant will also have the option of submitting an originally created photo depicting the entrant holding a copy of the book, “Sinner” (e-book version or paperback), written by Lino Rulli (the “Author”), or a photo that has anything to do with Author, or any of his projects. (The information and any such photos and/or statements under this Section 3 or Section 4 are collectively, the "Submission.") The inclusion of a photo or the content of the statement will not increase the odds of winning.
ALTERNATE MEANS OF ENTRY. Alternatively, entrants may mail a postage paid postcard or letter to Franciscan Media, LLC, Saints, Sinners and Salami Contest, 28 West Liberty Street, Cincinnati, Ohio 45202-6498. The entry must contain the entrant’s name, address, phone number, and email address and may also contain the optional statement and/or photo set forth in Section 3 above.
SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS. To be eligible, an entrant must supply all requested information and comply with the requirements set forth herein. Submissions must be received by February 6, 2012 at 11:59:59 PM. All postal entries must be postmarked by February 6, 2012. The Submission must be entirely original to the entrant and must NOT include any copyrighted material (including, but not limited to, non-original costumes, music, films, books, television programming, etc.), must not infringe on any third-party trademarks (including, but not limited to, brand names, product names, logos, insignia, location signage, photographs or artwork), and must not be abusive, obscene or defamatory. Any photos must depict only the entrant and no other individuals. Only one entry per person is permitted. Multiple entries will disqualify the participant. Incomplete or ineligible entries are void. All decisions of Sponsor relating to this Contest are final. Sponsor and Author and their principals, agents, affiliates, and employees are not responsible for incorrect or inaccurate transmission of entry information, or for any human error, technical malfunctions, postal delays, viruses, lost/delayed data transmission, omission, interruption, deletion, line failures of any telephone network, computer equipment or software, the inability to access any website or online service.
DRAWING; NOTIFICATION. One winner (“Winner”) will be chosen by a random computerized drawing on or about February 13, 2012 at Sponsor’s principal place of business. Notice will be given to Winner by e-mail or U.S. mail on or before the last day of the month following the applicable drawing. The Winner’s name will also be announced on Author’s radio show. Winners must claim the prize by return e-mail or letter to Sponsor within sixty (60) days of Sponsor’s notification. Sponsor will have no liability if the prize is unclaimed after this time.
PRIZE. The prize will consist of trip to New York, NY in 2012 where the Winner will spend one day with Author, visiting Author’s favorite local holy sites and salami restaurants. The trip will include the following: (i) roundtrip coach class air transportation for Winner, which shall originate from a major U.S. gateway airport of Sponsor choice nearest Winner's residence (as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion). Sponsor reserves the right to substitute ground transportation if Winner resides within 150 miles of New York , NY; (ii) one (1) night's hotel accommodations in New York, NY, which shall be one (1) room based on single occupancy. Local transportation, meals other than with Author, telephone calls, tips, entertainment, personal expenses, baggage fees and other incidentals and costs are not included. Sponsor will determine the travel dates, airline and hotel in its sole discretion. Travel restrictions, conditions and limitations may apply. Travel arrangements are subject to availability and must be roundtrip. Sponsor shall not be responsible for any cancellations, delays, diversions or substitution or any act or omissions whatsoever by the air carriers, hotels or other transportation companies or any other persons providing any of these services and accommodations necessitated by same. Sponsor shall not be liable for any loss or damage to baggage. Except as provided herein, no substitutions, cash equivalents, transfers, or assignments of the prize are permitted. Winner shall be responsible for all applicable taxes related to the prize. All travel dates are subject to change in Sponsor sole discretion. If Winner cannot accept the prize, or any portion thereof, as stated, the prize may be forfeited at the sole discretion of Sponsor. The value of the prize ($1,500 USD) represents Sponsor’s good faith determination of the maximum retail value thereof. The actual retail value is subject to price fluctuations in the consumer marketplace based on, among other things, any gap in time between the date the value is estimated for purposes of these Official Contest Rules and the date the prize is awarded or redeemed.
LICENSE; CONSENT; USE OF LIKENESS. By entering into the Contest, each entrant grants to the Sponsor and Author the perpetual, non-exclusive, irrevocable, fully paid, universal license for the purpose of the Contest, and also for advertising, trade or promotional purposes, to use, copy, sublicense, transmit, distribute, publicly perform, publish, delete, display, or make derivative works from, his or her Submission, or any portion thereof, including any biographical data, and all graphics, statements, quotations of or by the entrant and furnished by the entrant as part of this Contest, and all photographs provided by, or taken of, entrant with or by Sponsor or Author if entrant is the Winner, in any media now known or hereafter devised including, but not limited to, all forms of electronic media, print media, radio, audio, websites, social networking technology, and all forms of Internet and wireless protocol. Entrants also waive any claims for rights of publicity or invasion of privacy in connection with the foregoing, and they acknowledge and agree that Sponsor may use their Submission information to send the entrants promotional materials relating to Sponsor.
RELEASE OF LIABILITY; DISCLAIMER OF WARRANTIES. By entering this Contest, entrants release Sponsor and Author and their principals, agents, affiliates and employees from any liability, loss, harm, damage, cost or expenses whatsoever incurred which may occur in connection with any part of this Contest and with the acceptance and/or use of the prize, the Submission and any photographs of the entrants as set forth herein. Sponsor reserves the right at it sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify, or suspend the Contest. Sponsor also reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to change the prize to a product of equal or greater value at any time during the promotion. THE PRIZE, AND ANY SUBSTITUTIONS THEREFOR WILL BE AWARDED "AS IS," AND SPONSOR EXPRESSLY DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE.
VENUE. THE STATE AND FEDERAL COURTS IN HAMILTON COUNTY, OHIO SHALL HAVE SOLE JURISDICTION OF ANY CONTROVERSIES REGARDING THIS CONTEST. EACH ENTRANT WAIVES ANY AND ALL OBJECTIONS TO JURISDICTION AND VENUE IN THESE COURTS AND HEREBY SUBMITS TO THE JURISDICTION OF THOSE COURTS.
MISCELLANEOUS. This contest is sponsored by Franciscan Media, LLC in connection with Servant Books. All United States federal, state, local laws and regulations apply.
