Humility
Source: Bringing Home the Word
Published: Sunday, January 13, 2013

St. Francis writes: “The Son of God left the womb of the Father and descended from heaven’s height into our misery to teach us by word and example, even he the Lord and Master, what humility is.”

Francis kept his eyes ever on Jesus. How did he live? Where did he spend his time? Whom did he single out as his true disciples? What was his relationship with his Father, who had sent him? What did Jesus say we should be? How did he tell us to live? What was the model he gave for his true followers? In all this Francis saw humility.

What do I see I am to do when I look at Christ, and what do I hear him say that tells me how I should live my life?

Adapted from The Simple Way: Meditations on the Words of Saint Francis, by Murray Bodo, O.F.M.
