Feast of the Most Holy Trinity (B)
June 7, 2009
Scripture
•This is why you must now know, and fix in your heart, that the LORD is God in the heavens above and on earth below, and that there is no other. (Deuteronomy 4:39)
•May your kindness, O LORD, be upon us who have put our hope in you. (Psalm 33:22)
•The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God… (Romans 8:16)
•And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age. (Matthew 28:20b)

Reflection
•How do you experience the Holy Trinity in your life?
•How do you pray? To the Father, Son or Spirit?
•When or how has the Spirit been present to guide you?
•When have you asked Jesus to be near you or a loved one?
•When have you rested in the Love of the Father?

A Christian spirituality informed by a proper understanding of the Trinity is wholly oriented to a God who is its source and end. It is a way of living through participation in the very life of God by communion with the Word of God in the power of the Holy Spirit, and communion with all creatures. Prayer, ascetical discipline, apostolic discipline, the rigors of study, marriage and family life, the works of mercy, and especially the celebration for the paschal mystery in word and sacrament—all increase participation in divine life. Deeper participation in the love of God is, of course, recognized in the fruits borne in our being for others as God is for us.1
