For the Ride Home
by Ted Bergh
First Sunday of Lent (B)
March 1, 2009
Scripture
•I set my bow in the clouds to serve as a sign of the covenant between me and the earth. (Genesis 9:13)
•Your ways, O LORD, make known to me; teach me your paths, (Psalm 25:4)
•Christ suffered for sins once (1 Peter 3:18a)
•…and he remained in the desert for forty days (Mark 1:13a)

Reflection
•Can you enter the desert for 40 days of Lent?
•What spiritual practices will you embrace during Lent?
•Can your desert be prayer, fasting and giving alms (acting with kindness)?

Away, away, from men and town,
To the wild wood and downs—
To the silent wilderness
Where the soul need not repress
Its music.1
